Meals Distribution on Friday 12/18

NO MEALS DISTRIBUTION AT MARGUERITA. FAMILIES MAY PICK UP AT NORTHRUP OR OTHER AUSD ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS TOMORROW.

Reposted from AUSD:
It's going to be a busy day for meal distributions tomorrow (Friday, December 18th)!
Normally, we serve a hot entree on Fridays, but because we are distributing the "Extra Eats" meal boxes (5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 5 suppers) and anticipating a larger turnout at each site, our staff will not be able to prepare the hot food items.

Friday's menu will stay the same as previously announced, but families will need to heat the lunch entree themselves.

A few reminders about Friday...
- Meal distributions will be open from 12:00pm to 1:30pm (or until they run out). Arrive early, if possible.
- It's a high school pupil-free day, so there will be no food distribution at the high schools or bus stops.
- High school students/parents may pick up meals from any elementary school (except Marguerita).
- Marguerita meal distributions continue to be closed due to shortage of staff. Families are encouraged to go to Northrup School instead.
- If you are picking up for multiple children, make sure you have sufficient space in your car for the meal bags and "Extra Eats" boxes. (If you are walking to the school site, we strongly recommend you bring a cart/wagon or large, strong bag with you.)
- Please be prepared to provide verification that you are picking up for children (18 or under).
- Meals are always distributed on a first-come basis. As we run low, we may need to limit the number of Extra Eats box per family.

We know the need for food is greater than ever and anticipating there will be long lines at times. Please do be kind and patient with our staff. They will try to get through the long as quickly and safely as possible.

Meals Distribution Moved to Northrup

ATTENTION MARGUERITA FAMILIES:
Due to a shortage of available staff members, we will NOT be able to provide meal distribution at Marguerita School for the rest of the week.

We are in the process of transporting all food and supplies from Marguerita School to Northrup School, and are advising parents to pick up their meal bags from Northrup this Wednesday and Friday (December 16th and 18th).

When we return from winter break, all meal distribution will CONTINUE to be AT NORTHRUP SCHOOL as construction will begin on Marguerita's campus in January.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you in advance for your understanding.

Complete the Form to Help AUSD Regain Millions

Alhambra Unified School District stands to regain much-needed extra funding for schools, but it hinges on making sure all families complete the new Alternate Income Form by December 31, 2020

The new process gives each AUSD family a small action step to take this year in order to bring millions of dollars to their child's school for beloved programs like robotics, visual and performing arts, technology purchases, and after-school care.

However, all families must complete the Alternate Income Form before the end of the calendar year (December 31, 2020) to make a difference.

Filling out the form takes 5-10 minutes to complete — but the funding for student programs will last all year.

Only complete one form per family. Include all members of your house in the household count.

What you will need to provide while completing the Alternative Income Form:

The names and incomes of every member of your household
The school, grade, birthdate of every student in your household
Your social security number and electronic signature
(Optional) A valid email address or phone number for district communication about the status of the Alternate Income Form

Parents can visit the district home page at www.ausd.us or their child's school website or use this link  https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application

Clean Air SGV Workshop on 12/17

API Forward Movement invites the Marguerita community to their upcoming educational workshop on 12/17.

This one hour long educational presentation will be followed by a brief opportunity to discuss residents' concerns or questions about air quality in Alhambra and Monterey Park. Residents are also eligible for a free Purple Air sensor (API Forward Movement can assist with delivering and installing sensors while practicing COVID-19 safety guidelines) after attending an educational workshop! Additionally, residents will be able to participate in our stakeholder working group if they'd like to be more involved with shaping and advocating for cleaner environments.

Help Marguerita Families in Need

Over the last few years, Marguerita PTA has held a Pennies for Presents collection in December to help Marguerita families in need. Due to Covid-19 restrictions this year, we will be holding a "virtual" Pennies for Presents.

We will be collecting funds through December 9 to partner with the non-profit group Catalyst SGV to provide assistance to Marguerita HOPE and STAR families this holiday season. STAR, or the Students at Risk program, serves foster youth, students on probation, refugees and military students, and the HOPE program stands for Homeless and Parent Engagement.

Marguerita has 22 students in these programs, and we hope to raise a total of $550 to help them.

These donations go directly to aid these specific students and are separate from PTA funds and programs. Any voluntary donation would be greatly appreciated. Although normally even pennies and loose change will help, because we can only accept online donations with credit cards this year, we ask that donations start at $5.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Happy parents and students at 2nd grade distribution

AUSD Alternate Income Form

From Alhambra Unified School District:

Alhambra Unified School District is participating in a special meal program, Seamless Summer Option, during the 2020-2021 school year. Families continue to receive breakfast, lunch, and supper at NO COST. We do require that families complete the "Alternate Income Form" for additional District funding that supports our students. You only need to complete one form per family. Include all members of your house in the household count and select the household income range. We are urging you to complete the Alternate Income Form by December 31st.

Dance-A-Thon Fundraising Results and Prize Winners

Thank you Huskies for a job well done at the Dance-A-thon! Although we were not able to reach our fundraising goal for this event, the National PTA grant award, Cook's Night Out fundraisers, and other donations are keeping us on track (if not better!) with our budget.

Congratulations to all the Dance-A-Thon prize winners! Your support is making a difference!
