Congratulations to our 2021 Off to Great Places Awardees: Matthew Aylas, Kelly Heng, Sandy Jimenez, Chanh Ma, Jasmine Montiel, and Rita Zhang!

The Off to Great Places Award recognizes outstanding graduating 8th graders who have demonstrated the Husky R.O.C.K. values of Respect, Ownership, Cooperation, and Kindness while overcoming challenges. We are excited to recognize this inaugural group of awardees who have excelled in the midst of these unprecedented times.

Each awardee has received an award certificate and prize backpack from the PTA as they continue their academic journeys.

PTA Teamwork

If you didn’t already know, PTA is full of behind the scenes magic. In appreciation of our PTA members and their contributions, we are highlighting some of the special moments and efforts that went into the End of the Year celebration event. The photos are not inclusive of all the help received to pull together this event.

Photo 1: This year on Mother’s Day, Karen went to Costco to purchase treats for the End of the Year celebration despite her husband’s objection to her celebrating Mother’s Day doing PTA work. She wanted to save PTA some hard earned fundraised money by purchasing the treats that were on sale.

Photo 2: PTA members’ child(ren) often lend a hand or two to help put labels on donated books, load and unload the car and/or stuffing bags.

Photo 3: PTA VP of Fundraising Chair - Ken negotiated a deal for a special treat for our children.  He made multiple trips to Yogurtland to pick up and deliver ALL the treats!

Photo 4: PTA President Allison ordered 1630 books as gifts and sorted them all into reading levels for easy organization on distribution day. Her living room and garage was filled with boxes and boxes of books. Various PTA members and their children helped label the books. Allison also thoughtfully selected books and shopped on various sites for the best deals. Tony Fan assisted with ordering of the Chinese books for the Dual Immersion students. Additional help from Susan Vien and Teresa Ybarra with ordering and labelling.

End of the Year Drive-Thru Celebration Tomorrow!

Staff Appreciation 🖐🏻

This week we want to highlight our Marguerita Staff who have been working hard to ensure a smooth and safe year for all of us. PTA will be gifting them a Marguerita resuable water bottle and a cap to commemorate this school year. If you see them on campus, be sure to give them an air high five!

Marguerita PTA Receives Healthy Hydration Advocacy Grant

Marguerita PTA is so honored to receive the $500 Healthy Hydration Advocacy Grant this year!

"With the grant, Marguerita PTA is partnering with Marguerita School’s ASB, teachers, and staff to educate students in the benefits of drinking water through classroom presentations and modeling the healthy habit of choosing water over other beverages. Teachers, staff, and many students will receive customized reusable water bottles so that they can always carry water with them and stay hydrated."

Congratulations to PTA Service Awards Recipients!

Congratulations! PTA is so excited to recognize and award five additional members of our community for their outstanding service to children and youth!

Catherine Wong - Catherine has been the PTA Treasurer for two years, and has her hands in every project that PTA has done. She is diligent and detail-oriented in managing PTA finances and is dedicated and passionate about serving our children. In addition, her enthusiasm and friendliness is infectious!

 

Kenneth Kan - Ken organized many of our Cook's Night Outs this year, making it possible for us to easily support the Marguerita community by dining out. These fundraisers have raised more money this year than any other year. He has helped build relationships with our local businesses, and contributed to the Dance-A-Thon and many other projects.  

Tony Fan - Tony has been helping with fundraising for the PTA since last year, always willing to assist in bringing donations and grants to support our students. He has also organized Cook's Night Outs this year, requested in-kind donations for the Dance-A-Thon, serves on another school committee, and helps out wherever needed.

 

Tammie Leung - Tammie has been the Yearbook Chair for the last two years. Despite this unusual and difficult year for yearbook memories, she has created an amazing keepsake. Tammie also helps out in various committees, including Dance-A-Thon, publicity, and wherever else photos, videos, and writing are involved. 

Julius Sambajon - With unusual times, we all needed to learn new skills. Julius taught all of us how to produce and direct virtual Zoom parties. Without him, the Dance-A-Thon and Lunar New Year Celebration would not have been as successful and fun. He spent countless hours editing videos, putting music together, planning, and ensuring a virtual good time for all!
